Let's build a dog park in Saranac Lake!

As most dog lovers know, there are many wonderful places in the Adirondacks to walk your dog, but there is not a public park nearby where dogs can safely and legally run, socialize and play off-leash. A group of local residents have begun the process of assessing interest, discussing ideas and potential locations, and ultimately creating a proposal to bring to the Village. We hope to draft a proposal that will require NO public funding, but will rely on community involvement, volunteer efforts, and fundraising events.

Get involved!

We welcome all who would be supportive members giving both positive and negative feedback so we can accomplish this in such a way that will benefit the community as a whole.

We will be looking to:

​

• Have dog playdates in public places

• Solicit the input and seek the approval of significant organizations in the community

• Have different events to raise money and awareness to facilitate implementation

• Research successful dog parks in comparable communities

• Collect signatures in support of the dog park

• Consider possible dog park locations

• Create a mailing list

• Participate in public meetings

• Encourage the involvement of local veterinarians and pet supply stores
